Comprehensive rehabilitation in the digital era

Prosthetic dentistry and implantology were the first dental specialties to be introduced to digital technologies. The rapid development of specialized software and hardware devices accelerates the process of planning and implementing prosthetic structures.

Implantology treatment is becoming increasingly minimally invasive and predictable. The use of CBCT, intraoral scanner, specialized software for planning the position of implants, facial scanners, 3D printer or CAD/CAM for creating a 3D navigation template, pre-fabrication of individual abutments and structures is now routine practice. In less than a decade, the surgical technique in dental implantology has changed fundamentally. What has not changed, however, are the basic rules written over the past almost half a century in dental implantology.

Minimally invasiveness is a universal aspiration in medicine and dental implantology, but it requires an individual approach and strict selection in clinical cases. Otherwise, after a short functional period, there is a danger of compromising the use and the idea of digitalization in dentistry.
