35 years of oral prevention in Germany – efficacy and effectiveness

In the 1990s, group prophylaxis was introduced in kindergartens and schools in Germany, along with individual prophylaxis in dental practices, which is paid for by the statutory health insurance. Since then, the prevalence of caries in children has fallen by 90%, and the proportion of children completely free of caries has risen to 80%.

The presentation will discuss the long-term effectiveness of these efforts and also show the development of dental care needs.
