The correction of deep bite
Leveling the curve of Spee is an initial and often fundamental phase in correcting deep bite malocclusions.
Common knowledge dictates that leveling a curve of Spee requires, first and foremost, space.
However, this statement is usually incorrect and always reductive for several reasons, starting with a general overestimation of the need for space.
Moreover, the biomechanics will differ because the original anatomical basis (tooth position) varies widely with each single patient.
Also, for this reason, applying a continuous archwire flat or with a reverse curve of Spee is not always biomechanically consistent with the treatment objectives.
