Single visit root canal treatment


The lecture presents the possibilities of modern dentistry for performing endodontic treatment in one visit. Indications, contraindications and steps for a single-session root canal treatment will be discussed. In the lecture will be presented different strategies for preparation of root canals with fully mechanical protocol of work (contemporary Ni-Ti instruments Kerr, TF-adaptive, Traverse, Zenflex). Selection of irrigation protocols will be discussed. Different means and methods for root canal obturation will be presented (cold methods with bioactive materials; warm methods). In the lecture will be presented the potential complications of endodontic treatment in one visit and ways to prevent and overcome them. The lecture will analyze a large number of modern literature sources in relation to the subject. The lecture is illustrated with a large number of own photo and video materials and includes a video demonstration of performing endodontic treatment in one visit.

Dr. Dimitar Kosturkov

Dr. Dimitar Kosturkov


Dr. Dimitar Kosturkov graduated with honors from the Faculty of Dental Medicine in Sofia in 2014. In 2019, he obtained a PhD degree, and in 2020, he obtained a specialty in operative dentistry and endodontics. He is currently chief assistant professor at the Faculty of Dental Medicine – Sofia, in the Department of Conservative Dentistry. He practices at Uzunov Dental Clinic in Sofia, focusing on endodontics and direct restorations. He is author of numerous scientific articles on endodontics, caries treatment, dental diagnostics, microscopic and digital dentistry. Dr. Kosturkov is an international lecturer in endodontics for Kerr Endodontics, and in endodontics and restorative dentistry for Carl Zeiss. He is also a lecturer at Updent Training Center.
