COMPLETE DENTURE WEARERS, EXPECTATIONS VS POSSIBILITIES

Conventional complete dentures are still the first choice in the treatment of completely edentulous patients. Dissatisfaction among complete denture wearers is not uncommon. The main factor taken into consideration when it comes to the assessment of the denture’s success is the patient’s satisfaction with it. However, there are several cases when the objective evaluation of the denture’s quality doesn’t match the satisfactory level of the patient. Females are less satisfied with their dentures. There is a discrepancy between the denture quality estimated by independent experts and the subjective opinion of the patient. In majority of cases, it is due to the unrealistic patient’s expectations before the prosthetic treatment. The dental practitioner is challenged to find a balance between the wishes of the patient and the objective situation. Therefore, the question – “What are our possibilities for increasing the level of denture wearers satisfaction” still stands.
