CMD diagnostics with app support

Holistic dental and interdisciplinary diagnosis of CMD (Cranio Mandibular Dysfunction) with the CMD Suspected Diagnosis App.
Holistic diagnosis of CMD has so far been avoided by the professional associations because it is associated with coordination problems. Therefore it brings together different professional groups for interdisciplinary diagnosis. Although many colleagues have worked through the findings and diagnosis sheet, it often resulted in a splint that can be more easily summarized under the collective term "relaxation splint" or "crunch splint".
CMD is often not detected or detected too late
Since CMD patients are referred to an effective examination and therapy at a very late stage, we developed an algorithm from the refined examination forms in cooperation with two system analysts. This algorithm, with an application for smartphones, tablets and desktop computers, allows fast and effective findings and diagnostics.
Three apps facilitate diagnostics
Three different apps were created, which allow patients a pre-diagnosis, doctors and all involved health professions such as physiotherapists, alternative practitioners, osteopaths etc. a quick suspected diagnosis and dentists and specialists for CMD an extended diagnosis.
So far there is an app for patients (background color: blue), an app for doctors (background color: green) and an app for CMD therapists (alternative practitioners, physiotherapists, osteopaths, dentists and specialists for CMD therapy).
The aim of this division and a simple, special patient app is to introduce patients to CMD therapy as early as possible, as soon as the first symptoms appear.
It is possible for the patient to print out the summary or send it to the therapist of his choice.
The encryption is always done on the patient's device. With an additional key, the patient can then give the therapist permission to decrypt the summary. This works automatically. The data is sent encrypted, saved and transmitted to the therapist. The doctor can read and evaluate the data with his own key, after the patient has given his approval.
The physician app is mainly aimed at general practitioners and all groups of specialists, who have first contact with CMD patients.
It contains the same pages as the patient app, extended by the services provided by physicians, such as diagnosis of body position and relevant lymph node conditions. The diagnosis refined in this way is performed by means of an algorithm.
Also a consultation with a specialist or referral is indicated at the end so that the fastest possible therapy can be initiated.
This referral is followed by an extended examination with the app for CMD therapists (alternative practitioners, physiotherapists, osteopaths, dentists and specialists for CMD therapy).
This corresponds to the contents of the physician app, extended by the findings of the mouth opening, interocclusal distance, deviation at mouth opening and first contact, as well as preliminary contacts. This results in a refined diagnosis by means of an extended algorithm, which decides on the further procedure.
Interdisciplinary CMD Therapy
The initial therapy should always include an interdisciplinary, holistic treatment with relaxation therapy and accompanying physiotherapy/osteotherapy/psychotherapy.
In combination with orthomolecular therapy, this results in a rapid improvement of symptoms. The possibilities for further treatments were considerably improved, which is also due to the prompt detection and treatment of CMD.
The initial detection and treatment can significantly facilitate further therapy, such as reposition treatment of the temporomandibular joints with subsequent orthodontic treatment and/or dental care, and increase patient compliance.
